Gen XMZ is a community for working-age adults—primarily Gen X, Millennials, and adult Gen Z—at the Unitarian Universalists of South Bend. We focus on building connection, supporting one another, and creating space for meaningful community. While we are primarily a social group, we also engage in social justice work and advocate for the future of UUSB.

Founded in Summer 2023 by Dr. Louise and Syd Troyer, Gen XMZ has grown into an active and evolving part of congregational life. We host at least one event each month, with additional gatherings based on community interest. While our events are designed with working adults in mind, they are open to the wider UUSB community, and we value intergenerational participation.

Much of our ongoing connection happens on Discord, where members share event updates, community news, and day-to-day support. The space includes channels for general conversation, joys and concerns, music sharing, and channels exclusively for our LGBTQIA+ and trans members. If you’re interested in joining the Discord contact office@firstunitarian.us

Gen XMZ also organizes ongoing activities, including a long-running Dungeons & Dragons group. Campaigns open periodically to new members—contact office@firstunitarian.us to learn more.

At its core, Gen XMZ is a space to build relationships, explore ideas, and bring community-driven projects to life—whether that’s attending local events, forming small groups, or simply spending time together. New ideas and new people are always welcome.
